Iggy Azalea

Iggy Azalea has built an unlikely career as one of the most high-profile rappers in hip hop. After a series of high-profile singles, guest appearances and record label beefs, she's established herself as an edgy, fiercely confident figure in the male-dominated genre. Born Amethyst Amelia Kelly, she dropped out of school at age 14 to support herself and started rapping as a hobby. She eventually moved to the United States, where she became an underground artist and used her modeling to help her get gigs.

She released her first mixtape, Ignorant Art in 2011, and gained a wider audience after the release of her music videos. She adopted her stage name from the street she grew up on in Australia, Azalea Street, and released her major-label debut album, The New Classic in 2014. The project went three-platinum, led by the hit single "Fancy."

Over the course of her career, Azalea has collaborated with many top artists such as T.I., Demi Lovato, and Rita Ora, as well as the rap duo FKi. She has also made a name for herself in fashion, designing her own line of clothing called Iggy Azalea Collection and co-designing a shoe with the brand UGG.

In addition to her music, Azalea has been heavily involved in philanthropy, supporting women's rights and promoting anti-bullying campaigns. She also has spoken out about her mental health struggles.

In 2019 she has been embroiled in a lot of personal drama after topless photos from her 2016 GQ Australia photoshoot surfaced online. She responded by deleting her social media accounts and releasing a lengthy statement that described feeling blindsided, embarrassed, violated, angry and sad. She has since re-activated her Instagram and Twitter accounts.

The Australian MC has been tipped to be one of the most influential females in hip-hop. She was the first female rapper to top the Billboard Rap chart, and her 2014 debut album, The New Classic, spawned two multi-platinum hits, "Fancy" (featuring Charli XCX) and "Black Widow" (featuring Rita Ora).

Iggy Azalea is currently working on her next studio album. In the meantime, she has been a judge on the eighth season of the Australian version of X Factor and launched her own television production company, Azalea Street Productions. The company has signed a deal to create content for NBC Universal. Azalea recently released her first track in 2018 for the upcoming project, "Savior" featuring Quavo. It's expected that the full album will be released later this year.
